The songs in this collection are from 200 of Sri Chinmoy’s short Bengali songs with their companion English translations – totalling 400 compositions – entitled “Four Hundred Blue-Green-White-Red Song-Birds”.
On May 14, 1986, Sri Chinmoy sang all 400 of these songs in a marathon Manhattan public concert, a 7-hour epic. In June, 2022, members of Oneness-Dream came together in Reykjavik, Iceland to record forty pairs of these songs, offering them all together in a public concert on June 24 in Frikirkjan, the Free Church of Reykjavik. A further 10 pairs of songs were recorded by the choir’s soloist, Adarsha Kelly.
The songs are contemplations, deceptively simple and profoundly rich. When learned and often sung, like mantras they seep down into our minds and hearts – they bring us back to the essences of life; like inner friends they whisper great secrets. Listen: Sakaler prane..
